Production ended in mid-2014. Despite its low sales numbers,〔(Honda News and Views, Reports, 2014 Digital FactBook ), Honda, dated 27 January 2015, last accessed 19 September 2015〕〔(Honda Ridgeline Sales Figures ), GOOD CAR BAD CAR (Passionate Tracking Of Auto Sales Data), by Timothy Cain, last accessed 19 September 2015〕 the Ridgeline was one of the more profitable vehicles for Honda〔 and in December 2013 the automaker announced an all-new Ridgeline is planned for release,〔〔(All-new Honda Ridgeline Pickup to Debut Within Two Years ), Honda, dated 10 December 2013, last accessed 7 November 2015〕 possibly in 2016.〔〔(SEMA 2015: Honda Ridgeline Baja Racer ), YouTube, Cars.com, dated 3 November 2015, last accessed 7 November 2015〕 ==Design== The Ridgeline is "Honda's first foray into the true heartland of the American automotive way of life." The vehicle was designed and engineered in Honda R&D Americas facilities in Raymond, Ohio. A team of 37 engineers was led by a former General Motors designer who previously worked on the Chevrolet S-10, Gary Flint. Gary's team took about four years and around $250,000 to develop the vehicle.〔 The design was first revealed as the Honda SUT concept vehicle in 2004. According to Gary Flint, Honda's large project lead and Ridgeline's chief engineer, the Honda team "were springing off from other model developments --both Pilot and MDX-- where we had some of the structure modeled. We used that as a base to start building what we targeted as additional truck structure back into the vehicle."〔 The team created three complete body model iterations and performed a lot of full validation work with them before settling on a design.〔 In the end, the accepted design included a high-strength steel reinforced closed-box unibody frame〔〔(2006 Honda Ridgeline Overview ), Hondanews.ca, last accessed 7 September 2015〕 with a rear suspension design that provided space for a storage area below the bed,〔(First Drive: 2006 Honda Ridgeline, page 3 ) PickupTruck.com, by Mike Magda, 2 February 2005, last accessed 4 September 2015〕 what Honda calls an In-Bed Trunk®, an industry first.〔(Honda Ridgeline Truck Unveiled at 2005 North American International Auto Show ), Hondanews.com, dated 10 January 2005, last accessed 4 September 2015〕 The final mass production ready Ridgeline was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 10, 2005 as a 2006 model year vehicle.〔
